If you’ve had the stamina to follow the Sproul Saga, you know that Kevin Swanson assisted with the Sproul Junior Whitewash That Preceded the Sproul Senior Litigiousness. And what did Swanson’s shilling for the Sprouls achieve? Among other things, Ligonier is now lying to those who call to complain about their unbiblical lawsuit, saying that a mere “injunction” has been filed against Frank Vance, when in fact Vance has been sued for defamation. “[T]he leadership at Ligonier are sinning, and they know it, and they cannot defend it, and they don’t want to repent, so all they have left is an effort to hide behind a big lie: there is no lawsuit. The truth, of course, is otherwise, as even the pagan press noticed.” And what does it say when those in leadership roles raise children and grandchildren like this? Ryan Dick thinks that he will be the successor to Ligonier Ministries. Be sure to see where he tells his friends that his father plans to use the money sent in by sacrificial donors to build a secure place for his idiot son and pagan friends to show off their pimpmobiles.
Kevin Swanson also has a radio show, and on this installment, he says that no group in the world has been decimated as Negroes have. He blames this on 200 years of slavery followed by many years of statist programs. In other words, Whites are to blame. He then says that racism is the desire to eliminate certain races from the earth. So I’m confused, because that would indicate that I’m not a racist, but I am a racist according to the Oxford English Dictionary. Since Swanson hasn’t written his own dictionary, I’m inclined to think that I am, in fact, a racist, but that’s neither here nor there. Kevin and his co-host spend some minutes agonizing over whether to buy their daughters dolls of the same skin color. “We make our preferences in our lives, and sometimes we prefer a certain skin color over another skin color. Is that, in itself, bad?… With the dolls, it’s very interesting, because normally when a girl has a doll, she’s going to treat it as her own baby, in some sort of preparation for motherhood. Now, whether or not her husband is going to have colored skin or not, that becomes the more interesting question. Now, my daughter was given a little Black baby because she has a Black cousin… And what’s the message you want to convey to your children? Don’t you want to convey that this little child is just as precious in the eyes of God as another little child with different colored skin?” Here again we see the neo-Babelist doctrine that respecting the boundaries that God Himself created and recognizing that consanguinity produces healthy societies is evil. If a White man views a Black man as different, that must mean that he fails to view the Black man as precious in the eyes of God. As Kevin puts it, “There is no racial distinction between Jew or Greek in Christ.” He even calls Augustine “Black.” I propose that we blame Augustine for the fact that the average Black child has a 5% chance of growing up with his two parents for 18 years.
For a pleasant alternative to Swanson, listen to this lecture called “Race, People, and Nationality” by Dr. Francis Nigel Lee, a South African. I certainly don’t agree with all of it, but much of it is excellent. “Scripture does presuppose the existence of race,” Lee says. He condemns an evolutionist who says that when the races meet one another they should integrate. “I don’t believe that’s what the Bible teaches. Even though we may have transgressed the boundaries of nationhood and of peoplehood, it seems to me that God did create man of one blood in order that he may dwell as different nations throughout the world. But after the fall, when sinful man cosmopolitanly – meaning by that, with a desire to obliterate separate nationhood, with a desire to build a sort of United Nations organization under the Tower of Babel…attempted to resist developing peoplehood…[God confused the tongues of men]…because men had said, ‘Let us build a city and a tower which will stretch up to heaven lest we be scattered.’” Dr. Lee very helpfully points out that Saint Paul never denied his Hebrew kinship, despite his words in Galatians 3:28, which have been so widely misinterpreted. Contrary to Dishonest Doug Wilson and other liars, Lee claims that “Pentecost sanctified the legitimacy of separate nationality rather than saying this is something we should outgrow… In fact, even in the new earth to come, after the Second Coming of Christ, we are told that the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of the heavenly Jerusalem, and the kings of the earth shall bring the glory and the honor – the cultural treasures – of the nations into it… But nowhere in Scripture are any indications to be found that such peoples should ever be amalgamated into one huge nation.” For proof, he points to Daniel 2, where the heterogeneous mixture of the Roman empire is predicted to fail and is described as being like trying to get clay and iron to stick together. It can’t be done. Then Dr. Lee goes on to say that Nehemiah opposed intermarriage primarily on religious grounds but also on linguistic grounds. Think of what this means today in half-American, half-Mexican households! Lee is saying that Nehemiah would have opposed this not for ethnic reasons but because the children would grow up to speak a foreign language. And it’s true that language is a great divider of mankind. Like skin color, it is a sign of separation. We should not cut our children off from their people. I just wonder if anyone has criticized Dr. Lee for making this rather shocking statement. I can’t recall ever hearing a pastor place more weight on linguistic differences than racial differences.
I dispute Dr. Lee’s claim that resident aliens of any kind may fully join a particular theocracy. My friend Joshua tells me that segregation is justified on the grounds of restraining covetousness between tribes. We all know how often Revelation 7:9 is used as a neo-Babelist proof-text, but compare it to Genesis 34:21-24 and the later law in Numbers 36:7-9. Notice that the men of Shechem agreed to convert only because they were covetous for the great wealth of the Hebrews. As Joshua tells me, this sounds a lot like a miniature Tower of Babel in that the hope of being “one people” was perverted, unnatural, and sinful. “When studying the inheritance of the tribes of Israel, it appears God gave each tribe a specific inheritance (temporal and eternal blessing) which they were held accountable for by their obedient administration of it. God’s plan for man has always been the correct administration of life on earth – in other words, for mankind to be good stewards – to manage resources well, to run our own households properly, to teach and guard the gospel, to yoke the land and harvest it, wisely apply wealth, etc. If stewardship was really practiced by all nations then our present problem of mass immigration wouldn’t exist. Everyone would be content with the boundaries God has allotted their families and households because they’d have a national wealth of their own to enjoy. I think we can find a number of case laws to further back up Numbers 36:7-9, and point out how important land, territory, and property is to household kin. Numbers 36 states that each tribe is to manage and keep its own inheritance, distinct from other tribes. Likewise, the Jubilee year, the story of Ruth, and the division of land on either side of the Jordan amongst the 13 tribes in Numbers are also examples of distinctiveness amongst plurality. Not only was property distinctly distributed to each tribe, but each tribe was to retain this property by kin.” And because of this intimate connection between property and kin, we can expect God to abolish kin when He abolishes property, which is to say never. That’s why it is perfectly reasonable to use the word Marxist or Communist to describe the race-mixers, miscegenators, neo-Babelists, and lying pastors of the 21st century Devil-Church. If they don’t believe that White communities are worth saving, they have more in common with Stalin than with Jesus Christ. “After all, the conspiracy behind One World, Borderless Government is a redistribution and dispossession of wealth.” But as Joshua says, how could you make this connection without knowing where the Old Testament case law leads us? For instance, it is clear that, human nature being what it is, the Bible limits theft by encouraging borders. This makes good stewardship possible even when your neighbor fails. Abraham Lincoln was a thief, and borders almost prevented him from succeeding.
I wish I could speak as highly of this sermon by Joe Morecraft on the “twin heresies of racism and equality.” The title itself hints at Morecraft’s double-mindedness, which is a shame, because as preachers go, Morecraft is the man. It doesn’t help that he defines racism as discrimination based on skin color with the added belief in the supremacy of one race over all others. According to this definition, our Southern forefathers escape the noose, because they did not believe, and we do not believe, that one race is to dominate all others. I agree with Sam Dickson that the domination of slavery tends to corrupt both master and slave – the master by inhibiting the formation of free institutions, and the slave by laziness and dependence. At least, that was the case with Negro slavery. When Morecraft refers to racists, he has in mind folks like Thomas Malthus, Charles Darwin, Margaret Sanger, and the college professors who theorize lustily about “cleaning up” the world by eliminating 95% of the population. That’s all well and good, but then he twists the meaning of the word “race” by saying that all of mankind falls into two “races”: the race of the depraved and the race of the redeemed. “Within the race of the depraved [or] the race of the redeemed, interracial marriages may take place… But there may be no intermarriage whatsoever” between the redeemed and the depraved. “Racism is a heresy,” he says, and he calls Saint Peter a racist for eating only with “Jews.” He then denounces racism as “idolatry” because it becomes the standard by which everything else is judged. He denounces as racism the idea that “citizens of a nation should all be of the same ethnic group,” such as in Croatia or Ethiopia. He calls this “unbiblical nationalism” and an “expression of racism.” “Consistent Christians can’t hold this idea that nations must be ethnically pure because we know that what creates a nation and what ultimately defines a nation is not the family ties that link them together, it is the covenant they make to the God they serve. In Old Testament Israel, Israel was not ethnically pure. There were all kinds of races within Israel. People could intermarry in various races, but what made Israel a model nation is that it was bound together by a covenant with the living God. And that which defines a nation is the covenant that it makes to the God it serves, not the ethnic purity of that nation.” This is a sort of gnosticism that he’s pushing. “Consistent Christians…must oppose racial segregation and discrimination” because it is a “tyrannical usurpation of authority by the civil government not given to it by God. Such segregation by law is a denial of the unity and the oneness and catholicity of the Christian church.” It is “disobedience to the clear injunctions of the law of God regarding the identity and treatment of superiors, inferiors, and equals as spelled out by the Westminster Larger Catechism.” Then he rails against “multiculturalism” and says strange things like, “To be colorblind is to deprive a man of his color, and when you deprive a man of his color, you make him White.” He explicitly condemns heroes of the Christian faith such as Lester Maddox, saying that such men should be excommunicated. He even says that “racists” should be fired by their employers in the name of Jesus. But here’s the money quote: “Should parents disallow their children to marry persons from other races?… On the basis of the principles and the laws of the Word of God, our answer must be that of Doug Jones, and that is, for parents to forbid interracial marriages solely on the basis of race is sinful.” But how can this possibly be deduced from church history or from Scripture, which implies that a father may refuse his daughter’s hand for any reason whatsoever?
It’s very interesting that Morecraft hangs his double-minded racial theories on the pseudo-intellectual scholarship of Douglas Jones. Jones is as confused about religion as he is about race. Michael Hoffman, in his classic book, Judaism’s Strange Gods, uses Jones as an example of how Christians ought not to think. He quotes the following from Jones’s book, Why & What: A Brief Introduction to Christianity, which he calls a “palimpsest of confusion”: “…consider the case of Abraham, that ancient father of Judaism and Christianity… One of the best ways of beginning to think about the nature of Christianity is to think of it in the light of Judaism. Today, we so often think of Judaism and Christianity as two distinct religions, almost like Buddhism and Islam. But early Christianity never saw itself in that way. The earliest Christians saw themselves as faithful Jews simply following Jewish teachings. In fact, the first main dispute in the Christian church was whether non-Jews, the Gentiles, could even be a part of Christianity! Christianity self-consciously saw itself as the continuing outgrowth, the fulfillment, of true Judaism. As such, Christianity didn’t start in the first century but long before with King David, Moses, Abraham, and ultimately the first man, Adam. Everything in older Judaism was building up and pointing to the work of Jesus Christ. Over and over, the early disciples explained that Christ was the fulfillment of the ancient promises of Judaism… So when we start thinking about Christianity, we have to understand its very Jewish roots. We should assume that Christianity ought to look and sound like Judaism except when it explicitly claims to change something. We should expect that the Scriptures, institutions, basic principles, laws, meditations, family life, etc., of Judaism would carry over into Christianity, unless Christ, the final prophet, authoritatively changed a practice… Christianity’s Jewishness is pervasive indeed.”
Consider that Jones, who believes that Christianity was born of its Satanic counterfeit, presumes to lecture the church on race. Take a moment to let that sink in before continuing. Hoffman explains: “Let us say, for the sake of argument, that Presbyterian leader Jones had written, ‘Today, we so often think of the Israelites and the Christians as two distinct religions, almost like Buddhism and Islam. But early Christianity never saw itself in that way. The earliest Christians saw themselves as faithful Israelites simply following Yahweh’s teachings. In fact, the first main dispute in the Christian church was whether non-Israelites, the Gentiles, could even be a part of Christianity!’ Had Jones written the preceding there would be no argument, because the names Israelite and Yahweh are direct and historically accurate representations of the people, beliefs and deity of the Old Testament creed… When Mr. Jones states, ‘Christianity ought to look and sound like Judaism except when it explicitly claims to change something,’ he is, no doubt unconsciously and with good intentions, creating a link in the minds of Christians between those observances practiced by Talmudic rabbis today and the ancient religion of Israel. This is the fatal flaw in modern Christianity. They pay some obeisance, whether small or great, to the heinous hoax that there is a Biblical root to Judaism. Can it be said that Christians who convert to Voodoo have a Christian root? Should we sit at the feet of formerly Christian Voodoo practitioners in order to gain insight into the Early Church?” In other words, Abraham was not the father of Judaism, and any man who tells you so does not preach Christianity but Judeochristianity (i.e., Satanism). How did the once-great church of the living God come to believe that the religion of the ancient Israelites was Judaism, especially when, according to the Oxford English Dictionary, Christendom existed for 1,494 years before the term Judaism was invented?
Some Christians today still agree with our forefathers about what makes a country strong (common religion, language, ancestry, customs, and principles of government). Doug Jones says that for such “ethnically-obsessed groups, the chief end of man is to glorify race and enjoy it forever. If this isn’t idolatry, I don’t know what is.” Be sure to read that ludicrous and pointless article before soaking up the irony in what Jones calls “idolatry.”
Brian Schwertley (20:40 mark): “God could [sic] care less what race you marry. God doesn’t care. Moses was married to a Black woman.” That’s his advice for “establishing a Christian home.”
New City Fellowship, Chattanooga – a PCA church for the racially mixed, whose parents have cut them off from everyone else. (Listen at the 8:00 mark.) See their page of pastoral essays. Based on how much the pastor is writing about divorce, it appears that race-mixing isn’t working out too well there. But they’re trying hard: “Young black women may feel they have few social choices in our environment, so they might opt to attend a black church where there seems to be more males; the same can happen to young black males… We may have to look past our own race for godly possibilities.” You know what a problem sex can be when you’re too ignorant to understand the Bible. And even at this adulterous PCA church, people are suffering from diversity fatigue. The pastor himself writes: “I don’t know if integration will be truly possible until heaven, because I don’t know all the variables that would make cultures equal in one place or time—especially not within the context of the racial history of America.” So to help matters along, he has invented a new word: “gracism.” Clearly, mixing races is hard work. The pastor writes that his people feel as though they are all “walking on eggshells.”
State licensing of marriage began 40 years ago from the need to legalize that which was formerly illegal, namely miscegenation. Prior to that, marriage was “licensed” by churches, but what I didn’t realize until recently was that most marriages in Europe were common law marriages until the Council of Trent convened. After that point, marriages were only recognized as legal in Roman Catholic countries if witnessed by a priest of the Roman Catholic Church. Protestants saw things very differently, of course – at least for a while. I read on Stormfront that common law marriage wasn’t abolished in England until the 18th century, nor in Scotland until just a few years ago.

2. About mixed marriages, I just found this tidbit while researching something else from a Jewish site about Ruth’s marriage:

JW, I’ve always agreed that the Bible fails to condemn slavery, but just because something is not a sin does not mean that it’s a good idea. Harry, if the mixed multitude were still with the Israelites at Numbers 11, then they were also present at the giving of the law, such as Ex. 12:43-49. When we consider that the Hebrew word translated here as “mixed,” gehrev, also refers to the woof (as in warp & woof) of a fabric, it is rather amazing, because neither the warp nor the woof can constitute a fabric on their own, but only when woven together. It seems hard to avoid the conclusion that God offered the mixed multitude an opportunity to join Israel through circumcision. If they did quit the Israelites at some point (we have to consider the possibility that some were adopted into Israel through circumcision), it would seem to not be for any lack of an opportunity extended to them by God. Of course, the ethnic/racial makeup of this mixed multitude is not clear (as seems to be the case in many of the controversial passages, which is, I suppose, part of the reason why they are controversial), so by itself it establishes nothing — except that some sort of a group bearing the label “mixed” was given an opportunity to join Israel at one stage of its history.
