A Review of the 2008 American Renaissance Conference
We were very proud last weekend to slap the face of diversity. (Video here.) I counted only nine protesters, and they were dressed in ninja garb, waving black flags, and beating on drums. If you had driven by and witnessed the spectacle, you would have said, "Ah yes, anti-racists."
One of the most interesting speeches was from Eugene Valberg, a Jew who is very well acquainted with Africans. It has long been his experience that blacks lack the faculties of abstract reasoning, for instance in the areas of subjunctivity and counter-factuality. The question is, What if? What if something that could have happened but didn’t happen had happened? Africans have no answer. They have no self-consciousness except in the present. They don’t do well with details, facts, and precision. They understand certainties but have no grasp of risk. (Death is a certainty which they understand, and so plan for their funerals, but life insurance concerns risk, which they do not understand.) They have no concept of a promise or an obligation. Their promise means, "I’ll try." There is no delayed gratification or appreciation of heritage because there is no comprehension of either the future or the past. Maintenance, planning, and saving are future-oriented. But Africans live only in the present, which explains the AIDS epidemic. Even when they know what causes AIDS, they are oblivious to prevention. They believe education is White man’s magic, that a diploma confers education, not the work that went into earning it. They see no difference, therefore, between a fake diploma and a real diploma. See the quote from the previous post: "It was early 1994 when Nelson Mandela gave a speech in a slum outside Cape Town and spoke in grand terms of a new beginning and how when he was elected president every household would have a washing machine. People took him literally. A few months later he became South Africa’s first black president. That’s when clerks in department stores in Cape Town had to turn people away demanding their free washer and dryer." It should be no surprise that African languages are devoid of abstract gradations and are full of multiple meanings.
Fred Reed got a chilly reception. He has married a mestizo/Jewess in Mexico, and he only seems to care that she is well-educated. When publicly confronted about his vile behavior, he exclaimed that "People should marry whoever they please, and it’s no one else’s business." Christians have never shared this misogynist sentiment. So much for Fred, but I was intrigued by his statement that rape and violent crime and police corruption are not problems in Mexico. I don’t believe it, but he insists it’s true.
Martin O’Toole delivered a marvelous speech on "Civil War" myths. He said two such myths have been promoted by Southerners in recent times, namely that slavery had nothing to do with Lincoln’s war, and Southerners were not racist like Northerners. O’Toole showed that according to the Communist definition of "racism," Northerners and Southerners were unified, both before and after the war. And if slavery was not an issue at all in the war, why was it mentioned in every state’s declaration of secession?
Jared Taylor relished the irony that those who denounce race as socially-constructed write about it as though it is the most real and terrifying thing imaginable. As was said here earlier, it is curious that something so "insignificant" is always so important for forming political coalitions and measuring aptitude. And it’s interesting that as the population has mixed, Whites have seemingly lost their abstract reasoning capabilities and have become more like Valberg’s subjects. "But I know a smart black person!" one of them says, and this is supposed to disprove, in one fell swoop, everything the scientists say about the heritability of IQ. Actually, the herd mentality is comforting, and this, more than anything else, is the reason for political correctness. Yet historically, Whites have shown more spine. As Taylor said, Whites, at the apogee of their power and wealth, at a third of the world’s population and in control of three-fourths of its land, resolved that might does not make right and pushed for peaceful abolition and decolonization. If they had only been present-oriented like blacks, they could have easily conquered the world. (As our readers know, Cambria Will Not Yield has long contended that Whites were also unique in their acceptance of Christianity. They have been the only people on earth to accept the faith from a position of strength rather than subjugation.) The aliens among us have always celebrated conquest, and this is why it is suicide for Whites to unilaterally abstain from their own territorial needs, as is happening today. Instead, a reciprocal respect for rights is required.
Taylor said Whites are afflicted by a sort of "psychological socialism." They think it’s just unfair that not everyone in the world is equal. The key point is that they are fully aware of racial inequality, and they reject separation because of it. To separate would be for the liberal to concede defeat, and liberals have trained themselves (in a hypocritical sort of way) to know that they are the best and brightest, or as Obama says, "The last great hope for Earth." Americans tell themselves regularly that theirs is the greatest idea-nation in history. These are people who will wage war against biology until the bitter end. Taylor very correctly calls them religious fanatics. And here is the difference between the "race realists" and the "race fantasists": The realists know that they have no right to give the societies they inherited from their forefathers to strangers. It is easy to see, therefore, why we do not call ourselves White supremacists. As a friend of mine says, Whites gifted the world with the deadliest invention in history: liberalism. I quote Lawrence Auster: "Whites therefore compensate for their natural preference for whites by turning people of other races, particularly blacks, into abstractions, symbols, totems—sacred objects upon whom they can project their idealism and demonstrate their compassion. It is a modernized version of the romance of the ‘noble savage’ that provided the well-spring of the modern left in the writings of Rousseau."
Jared really surprised me when he said Obama’s race is not necessarily a handicap in the election. He even said he would vote for Thomas Sowell over any of the other candidates running. As you know, we believe it would be unscriptural to be ruled by a stranger.
Paul Gottfried is a very respectable Jew whose speech analyzed the disintegration of the conservative movement. He said the original Buckleyite movement conservatives were unified by ex-values rather than values. For instance, many of them had been Communists, and then they were anti-Communists. They found purpose in reaction, but this also easily adjusted them to reinventing themselves. Their values continually changed, and those who refused to conform ideologically were tossed overboard. They all castigated MLK as a Communist whoremonger, and now they hail him as a conservative hero. Now, as a movement, conservatism is dead and has been co-opted by neoconservatism. (Change comes easily to “conservatives.") Neocons have tarnished their own image by warmongering for Israel, but as Gottfried reminded us, the fault for the downward spiral lay not with the neocons but with the original conservatives. This is why Alien-American Ramesh Ponnuru holds that conservatism is not about nations or peoples but human rights. Jacobin or conservative? You make the call.
Whereas the American conservative movement has been led by hypocritical opportunistic careerists, Gottfried believes the European Right is essentially a 19th century movement. He argues that turning over the Protestant Right to Eastern European Jews is a terrible mistake and evidence of a movement that has lost its identity. (Likewise, we know that Christian families who adopt little strangers, such as John McCain and his Bangladeshi "daughter," are evidence of love that has lost its direction.) Thus we are burdened with "conservatives" who conserve nothing but yammer endlessly about values and relativism - both of which are meaningless without antithesis.
Ashley Mote has an idea for funds to be raised to buy a small island off the coast of England and call it Britannia, a new sovereign nation for present and former subjects of the crown who would want dual citizenship in a White nation with its own currency, stamps, flag, passports, laws, etc. This plan is now in the works and similar plans are underway in other countries, such as Australia. Mote quoted Thomas Jefferson’s wonderful statement that tyranny is when the people are afraid of their government, but liberty is when the government is afraid of the people.
Bruno Gollnisch of the French Front National spoke on Identity, Tradition, and Sovereignty. He said the recent Lisbon Treaty is essentially the previously rejected European Constitution and has ended 15 centuries of French sovereignty, purchased dearly with blood. European parties like his and the BNP and the Vlaams Belang speak of politics based not on race but nationality. I’m sure they don’t believe there is any such thing as non-racial nationality, but they talk this way to avoid prison. Nick Griffin did the same thing the last couple of times I heard him speak. Nevertheless, Gollnisch issued a call for "those not hypnotized by multiculturalism and miscegenation." This is all the more strange because he has "married" a Japanese woman.
I found Michael Walker’s political advice far more refreshing: know what you believe, say what you mean, and stop apologizing. He says all parties have fundamentally the same political message because all people want three things: prosperity, security, and peace. The leaders of the West are 0 for 3 on this count, which is why "change" has become the most popular political buzzword of our time. "But why call it a movement if it doesn’t move anywhere?" Walker observes that women are the shadow force behind history. It is a popular misperception that women are romantics and men are practical. On the contrary, men spend a lot of time dreaming about history and debating fine tactical points and attending theoretical conferences while women busy themselves with the daily duties of life.
Sam Dickson’s speech to close the event was superb, as usual. When Jared once expressed his reluctance to end the conference on the morning of the Sabbath, Sam assured him that it falls within the category of acts of charity and necessity. Sam encouraged us to be hopeful and not pessimistic - a rut I have often revisited. It occurred to me that one may be an atheist and have a false or temporal hope, but it is impossible to be a Christian and not have hope. Unfortunately, we too often tend to dwell on Eliot’s final verse in The Hollow Men. As Mr. Walker said earlier, we must tell the world what we want. We want homelands for our race, and this can only be considered unthinkable by those whose hearts are filled with hatred; by "Methodists on Marx and Marxists on meth," as Sam puts it. And why have we lost our ancestral homelands and found ourselves in the midst of a dysfunctional European family? One reason, Sam says, is because the Reformation shattered the unity of Europe, just as earlier the selfish pronouncements of popes divided Christendom east and west.
I’ll tell you what exposes all of this as hateful, though: ninja outfits.
