Here’s an interview with Sam Murrell, the Negro pastor of an all-Negro - “except for my wife” - congregation. He says the biggest stumbling block to blacks joining Reformed churches is Calvinism’s love for Scottish culture and worship. He says his congregation was originally all-White, but once the neighborhood began to darken, most Whites took off and Negroes took it over (just like every other place where a critical mass of blacks may be found). So the church was then in the ghetto, and Murrell admits that the blacks didn’t care at all for Reformed theology, but they stayed. Murrell says, "There’s a certain style of preaching found in traditional black baptist churches, called whooping, and if you’re not familiar with it, I’m not sure if I can mention it on the radio." (Whooping is a singsong cadence that’s all hollering and sweat and devoid of exposition. I’m sure you’ve seen it on TV. Here’s an example that is reminiscent of Jonathan Edwards, and here’s another that is surely how John Knox sounded.) He says his congregation at one time "lost touch with their blackness," but "that is sort of coming back." Good to hear that racism is alive and well. He also says something about how black baptist churches like to have "fashion shows" (?).

As a consequence, she has two boys who are also pale skinned and flaxen haired. Into this positively Scandinavian next generation, I have now injected a tiny, dark-skinned, dark-haired girl." She has "mixed reactions" when she looks at the product of her adultery. "I am shocked. She seems so alien. With her long, dark eyelashes and shiny, dark brown hair, she doesn’t look anything like me… I didn’t realise how much her looking different would matter and, on a rational level, I know it shouldn’t. But it does. Evolution demands that we have children to pass on our genes, hence the sense of pride and validation we get when we see our features reappearing in the next generation." She can call it evolution if she wants, but it’s simply an instinct which not even animals transgress. After a half century spent trying to forcibly close the racial achievement gap, the Supreme Court has now quietly admitted that the basis of Brown vs. Board, which was that intelligence floats on the breeze like pollen, was erroneous. On May 17, 1954, Chief Justice Earl Warren read the unanimous decision: "We come then to the question presented: Does segregation of children in public schools solely on the basis of race, even though the physical facilities and other ‘tangible’ factors may be equal, deprive the children of the minority group of equal educational opportunities? We believe that it does… Separate educational facilities are inherently unequal." The Supreme Court now denies this, and not by choice, but simply because it is no longer possible to maintain the lie. In a 2000 La Griffe du Lion article entitled The Politics of Mental Retardation, we find that when the threshold for mental retardation was set at an IQ of 85, blacks tried for years to have it officially lowered because half the black population fell below it! Due to this racist pressure, the threshold was lowered to 70, one full standard deviation, in 1973. This meant that only 12%, rather than 50%, of blacks were considered retarded. An immense sum of money has been spent since then trying to close the gap, to no avail. In fact, it has been discovered that blacks score three percentile points higher on the math portion of the SAT if they have black teachers. "Even larger gains were observed when students had teachers of the same racial background in consecutive years." This isn’t going to turn them into astrophysicists, but it shows why the Supreme Court had to abandon its damned lie.

We said last time that prophets like Carleton Putnam were denounced as racists 50 years ago for denouncing the disastrous Brown vs. Board integration ruling. The last two sentences of Putnam’s book, Race and Reason, are more poignant than any I’ve read: "To alter the foundations on which a house is built is a doubtful way to preserve it. Let us continue building, let us extend the foundations, but let us not change rock to sand." One very interesting fact I found in that book is that only four countries in the world at the time had constitutions based on cultural, economic, or social equality: Guatemala, the Mongol Peoples Republic, the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic, and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. And this is what Christians have now elevated to an essential of the faith. Cross them on it and watch how fast you’re excommunicated.

Fifty years before Putnam, W.H. Thomas said the same things in his excellent book, The American Negro: What He Was, What He Is, and What He May Become, and fools ignored him just as they ignored Putnam. He wrote: "Universal experience has demonstrated that ignorant masses of mankind are not aroused or elevated by mere contact with intelligent forces; and that fact brings into prominence a racial characteristic which, in view of its industrial bearing, ought to be considered. For two centuries and a half the negro has dwelt in the presence of a superior and vigorous civilization, and one that at times has sought to inculcate in him lofty notions of duty, industry, and power, with the result that he has acquired a fair degree of diligence, and is reasonably industrious when under capable supervision. But what he has not yet acquired is that self-propelling force inherent in the white race; nor has he fairly utilized in freedom what he gained in compulsory bondage." Think of the money that could have been saved if these wise men had been heeded. And what has changed in black churches since Thomas wrote these words a hundred years ago? "It must be confessed that ungodliness is triumphant when negro temples of worship are turned into debauching rendezvous, with prayer-meetings transformed into séances of sensuous contortions and physical frenzies. Human regeneration is out of the question where material greed riots, and eternal conflict is waged between a dollar and a human soul, with the inevitable sequence that the dollar wins, and that too in the face of the divine mandate that they who do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God." This book was published only five years before the Negro-inspired Azusa Street revival, which gave birth to the modern Pentecostal movement. But blacks are not entirely responsible for holy-rolling. The same pathologies (barking, laughing, convulsions, etc.) were in abundance much earlier during the Second Great Awakening. Another thing that has not changed for these lunatics across the centuries is "camp meeting babies," born nine months after an evangelist comes to town.

Here’s a black man wailing about "the dissembling of the public schools through home schooling, charter schools, private schools, etc… This Supreme Court is now a neo-Plessy White nationalist entity that protects the interests of the White majority by making sure they have access to majority white schooling, by enacting a principle of non-discrimination that protects their power and privilege." As I read this post of Ehud’s, I was thinking of reactionary identity. If you ask a black mother why she waved a flag in last week’s 4th of July parade, she’ll say that her son is in the military, and she has other loved ones who have fought for her "freedom." She will quite frankly attest that her rights as a citizen are secured by her son’s willingness to die [for Israel]. Before that, chances are she had no love for America or American heritage because, as the saying goes, her people didn’t land on Plymouth Rock, Plymouth Rock landed on her people. Her only sense of identity, at least that which is not gleaned from African fables, comes through the only language Negroes, and most of the world, understand - force of arms. Power makes her stand up and cheer. (This also explains the national obsession with sports, which have been thoroughly negrified. "Sportsmanship" is now a meaningless word because honor has been forgotten.) Unfortunately, the black woman’s answer is the best answer most Whites can give too. But American Whites cherished their own people and their shared history before they ever had a military. Their military was born of necessity to protect that which gave them identity. (You would do well to go back and read Cambria’s many posts about Whites being the only people in the world who have ever bowed the knee to the God of Mercy when not coerced to do so.) When Americans today speak of a common heritage, it is purely martial, and the belligerence that feeds the beast of war is called "patriotism." To make matters worse, we find that most of the Christians and cultists, such as Doug Phillips, are hypocrites who order their lives almost exactly as we order ours. Notorious racist-hypocrite Doug Phillips writes that Jesus Christ, not the ethnicity of the settlers, is what made America great. We quite agree that the glory is God’s alone, but this does not mean that any other Christian people could have duplicated the accomplishments of our fathers. God has not gifted all races with an equal love of freedom. Most are quite content to remain slaves. This is what all of our "racist" Christian fathers believed, and now we who agree with them are called "unbiblical," "anti-Christian," "misguided," "ignorant," and "bigots" by this cult leader. Judeochristians today have a flair for the gnostic. Of course "America was great because she was Anglo-Saxon, European and white." She would not have been American otherwise, and this withholds no glory from God, who was pleased to create White people and bless this land with them. The danger of gnosticism is that our people will be viewed as replaceable, and everything that has made our country what it is will be lost. History unanimously affirms this to be true. Brian Abshire once virtually boasted in the "immateriality" of his flesh by announcing that his own Celtic ancestors painted their buttocks blue and ate each other. Such fairy tales somehow convince the 21st century race-mixing Christian that he is saved by grace, not of works. The truth, as every historian knows, is that the Scots have always loved freedom more than life itself, and Christianity didn’t change this at all, except by amplifying it. There are many, many people on this earth who will never be like the Scots, with or without the gospel. This statement is considered rank heresy by Boasian "Christians." By the way, you should peruse the Vision Forum blog and see how Doug edits his pictures to prominently display the handful of colored people present at the Jamestown event. It’s quite entertaining to see him try to divert attention from his many racist statements, actions, and associations. Covering one’s tracks can be a full-time job. Despite polls showing 83% approval of miscegenation, even these race-mixers admit that most people are repulsed by it (except as a pornographic fetish), and that’s why crimes involving interracial sex generate so much discussion. By the way, there’s a documentary called Paragraph 175, which is about Germany’s old anti-sodomy law. Somehow, the Jews who made the film blame Hitler for the law, even though it was over 60 years old by the time Hitler came to power, and was of course based on much older laws. As disgusting as it is, the documentary has the unintended effect of making the Nazis look good for enforcing Christian law. The Jews openly admit that by the 1920s, Berlin had become a "homosexual Eden." They boast about becoming scout masters for the purpose of molesting young boys. They wail about the persecution of Magnus Hirschfeld. The Encyclopedia of Homosexuality calls Hirschfeld the “Leader of the homosexual emancipation movement in Germany.” He was a pervert sexologist like Alfred Kinsey who wrote a book called Die Transvestiten. Hitler had the good sense to plunder his property and burn his publications, including his magazine, Sexus, the first issue of which had just been printed. Not surprisingly, Hirschfeld wanted to entirely do away with the concept of race, and was of course an open advocate of miscegenation. A sub-heading on page 265 in his book: “MANKIND A UNITY TO BEGIN WITH, AND DESTINED TO BECOME A UNITY ONCE MORE.” (Man, he could have gone far in the 21st-century Christian clergy!) How do we arrive at this mystical unity, you ask? On page 113, he predicts “a war of extermination” against Whites by non-whites. He translated a book called Racism to English in 1938, and that was one of the first occurrences of the Marxist word in the English language. At any rate, once you learn about the moral condition of Germany between the world wars, it’s easy to see why the people praised Hitler for ridding them of scum. They got more than they bargained for, but that’s another story.

Fearing “importation of foreigners,” Thomas Jefferson wrote in Notes on Virginia: “They will bring with them the principles of the governments they leave, or if able to throw them off, it will be in exchange for an unbounded licentiousness, passing, as usual, from one extreme to the other… In proportion to their number, they will infuse into it [the nation] their spirit, warp or bias its direction, and render it a heterogeneous, incoherent, distracted mass.” Did we ever have a more prophetic president? My definition of "racism" is the refusal to tolerate the "heterogeneous, incoherent, distracted mass."

One such liberal who worships democracy and calls it Christ is Chuck Colson. There is so much that is wrong with this article that I’ll ignore most of it, including the shocking way in which he misapplies a quote from Martin Luther, a man who had no qualms at all about exerting the power of the church to punish enemies of the people. The most shocking sentence of all is this: "At the heart of Christianity is the concept of free will." How many of our fathers who built Christendom during the last 2,000 years would endorse this statement? Precious few, I wager. The statement is so self-evidently absurd that no response is needed. "If you love Me," said Christ, "Keep My commandments." Colson is symbolic of the modern evangelical who hates Christ because he detests the idea of reinstalling the commandments of Christ as the supreme law of our land. Those who commit evil deeds love the darkness. There is no way to avoid theocracy because men are naturally religious beings, and they always worship some god, even the god called Self. Colson’s god is the People, and never has there been a more worthless bastard to ascend to the rank of deity. At least those who worship Self never disagree with their god.

This (part 1, part 2) is well worth reading, although a theocratic Kinist such as myself rejects the notion that "Natural law is therefore the fulcrum on which rests the case that immigration is genocide." Natural law may at times be theoretically useful, but it is utterly useless in understanding our duties in covenant with God. If we all understood every detail of natural law but had no special revelation, we would be utterly lost. Nevertheless, here are some good quotes from the article: "Within a century or two, perhaps less, the peoples of the West, those whose ancestry derives from the Nordic and Alpine subraces of Europe, will have ceased to exist as a cohesive entity. How quickly the end will come depends on immigration rates, differential birthrates among ethnic groups, and mixed-race childbearing rates. But the final outcome is fixed so long as we adhere to our present course… And yet, frank discussion of the outcome, the submergence of the race that produced the world’s first, and perhaps only technological civilization, is usually silenced with words like ‘racist,’ ‘bigot,’ and ‘xenophobe’… Universalism is altruism practiced without discrimination of kinship, acquaintanceship, shared values, or propinquity in time or space… The same people who have always denounced as an extremist lunatic anyone who warned about ‘the racial dilution of white America,’ are now proposing, not just the dilution of white America, but its complete elimination. Race-blind ideology has led directly to the most race-conscious—and indeed genocidal—proposal in the history of the world… The destruction of an entire population is, in fact, genocide by the definitions of the UN Genocide Convention, which defines genocide as ‘the destruction, in whole or in part, of an ethnic, racial or national group. The original E Pluribus Unum seal had six symbols in the center:  the rose (England), thistle (Scotland), harp (Ireland), fleur-de-lis (France), lion (Holland), and an imperial two-headed eagle (Germany). God Himself is a segregationist. John Calvin writes, in his commentary on Genesis 35:11: "’I am God Almighty.’ God here, as elsewhere, proclaims his own faithfulness. He then promises that he will cause Jacob to increase and multiply, not only into one nation, but into a multitude of nations. When he speaks of ‘a nation,’ he no doubt means that the offspring of Jacob should become sufficiently numerous to acquire the body and the name of one great people. But that follows concerning ‘nations’ may appear absurd; for if we wish it to refer to the nations which, by gratuitous adoption, are inserted into the race of Abraham, the form of expression is improper: but if it be understood of sons by natural descent, then it would be a curse rather than a blessing, that the Church, the safety of which depends on its unity, should be divided into many distinct nations. But to me it appears that the Lord, in these words, comprehended both these benefits; for when, under Joshua, the people was apportioned into tribes, as if the seed of Abraham was propagated into so many distinct nations; yet the body was not thereby divided; it is called an assembly of nations, for this reason, because in connection with that distinction a sacred unity yet flourished. The language also is not improperly extended to the Gentiles, who, having been before dispersed, are collected into one congregation by the bond of faith; and although they were not born of Jacob according to the flesh; yet, because faith was to them the commencement of a new birth, and the covenant of salvation, which is the seed of spiritual birth, flowed from Jacob, all believers are rightly reckoned among his sons, according to the declaration, ‘I have constituted thee a father of many nations.’"

And yet some foolish Christians still believe that 1 Peter 2:9 is an adequate refutation of Kinism merely because it refers to an "holy nation" in the singular. Their reasoning is that under the old covenant, circumcision was a physical and covenantal mark on a particular people. But under the new covenant, those who believe the promises to Abraham are Abraham’s seed. And if all people are eventually Abraham’s seed, there are no more particular peoples, or what are called nations, only an absolute body of Christians in the world: an holy nation. This is why Ken Ham, whose silly book, One Blood, is now online, created the graphic below. The most astounding thing about it is that 2,000 years passed before Christian race-mixers enlightened the church with their novel interpretations.

If Galatians 3:28 is the most-abused verse in Scripture, perhaps 1 Peter 2:9 is number two. In the first place, Peter names his audience in 1:1: "the [Greco-Roman] strangers scattered throughout [Asia Minor]." He clearly never intended his epistle to be a universal polemic for miscegenation or erasing of borders. There’s nothing wrong with applying his teaching to the church at large, but let it be done in context. The words "holy nation" are preceded by the words "royal priesthood," and this is one large clue to the context. Under the new covenant, there is no longer need of a priest to make intercession with God. We are now all "priest-kings" like Melchizedek because, as it says in verse 5, we ourselves are the temple. The JFB Commentary is very helpful: "There are two Greek words for ‘temple’; hieron (the sacred place), the whole building, including the courts wherein the sacrifice was killed; and naos (the dwelling, namely, of God), the inner shrine wherein God peculiarly manifested Himself, and where, in the holiest place, the blood of the slain sacrifice was presented before Him. All believers alike, and not merely ministers, are now the dwelling of God (and are called the ’naos,’ Greek, not the hieron) and priests unto God (Re 1:6). The minister is not, like the Jewish priest (Greek, hiercus), admitted nearer to God than the people, but merely for order’s sake leads the spiritual services of the people." The New Testament never refers to ministers of the gospel as sacerdotal priests. Therefore, all Christians comprise an holy "nation" because they all have equal standing before the throne of grace. They are called a "nation" here because they are antitypical to Israel, meaning that of which the sacerdotal nation of Israel typified. Why is this so hard for neo-Babelists to understand? This is what Paul meant in Romans 11 where he refers to Hebrews and Gentiles as branches that are grafted, cut out, and grafted into the olive tree again. They comprise one body of believers (one olive tree), but it is a metaphor that does not necessarily imply unity in the flesh. Our fathers had no trouble understanding any of this.

Here’s a Reformed seminarian who writes: "There is no more nationalism or ‘blood and soil’ after baptism… America has no ‘natural’ in itself. It is a transplant nation… As the Church takes priority, nations will fade into the background… [B]orders will be of less importance." He denies, in the Bible, "any emphasis on national boundaries, other than the Nation-sanctuary of Israel." Therefore, "the kinists are simply Judaizers. They hold on to the carnal world and have no understanding of the role of the Mosaic law nor of Israel as priest-nation. They are biblically incompetent. They also don’t seem to understand the orthodox doctrine of the Trinity, since the three persons are co-extensive with the one essence. The persons of the Trinity indwell one another in harmony. This is most certainly NOT what the kinists teach in regard to humanity, and so it would seem that the analogy shows them to be functional tri-theists (aka pagans)." He says something else that seems rather innocuous at first glance: "the Church is the new people of God." But you have to know what he means by this in the context of what else he has said. It is pure evil, and it is hatred for Christ and the people of Christ.

T. Robert Ingram was an Episcopal minister in the South during the 1960s. He wrote a book called Essays on Segregation in which he defends the historic Christian faith. Here are some quotes:

No, the question of so-called "integration" or "segregation" is one exclusively of the nature of the Church, or, for those who cannot see the kingdom of God, the structure of Society, and its relation to Heaven as a future state of being. It involves not only the relationship of each individual to the Church, but of various churches to each other and to the whole. Apart from this consideration, the very word "integration" loses all meaning. The only thing involving two or more persons that can be thought of as "integrated" or "formed into one whole" is the Church. Perhaps a man and wife can be thought of as being "integrated" into a family, and yet I have never heard the term so used even recognizing the phrase "one flesh"!

The real question debated under the heading of integration therefore is the knotty old one formally called the doctrine of the Church. What is the One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church? How is it recognized in this world? Why has it been necessary in formal doctrine to distinguish between the Church Militant here on earth, the Church Triumphant, the Church at Rest and the Mystical Body of Christ? The Reformers spoke of the visible Church as opposed to the invisible church, probably labeling old categories with new tags. Since "integration" is a word so intimately bound up with the idea of "oneness," the crux of the argument must lie in what men think of as the nature of Christian unity.

It may be agreed right off that for those that can see only this world, whether claiming to be Christian or not, the passion for unity in and of the world must become a veritable obsession. It may be admitted that an overriding unity of creation is necessary to human existence as food and air. As long as that final unity is consciously or subconsciously seen in the One who made all that is, then the separations, diversities, distinctions and differences which abound in creation become not an unendurable frustration, but a boundless vista of goodness and peace. But if all talk of God is only a façade of pietism, and if the only thing that matters really is this world, and the Christian hope of the world to come is better described in the famous Marxist sneer as "pie in the sky"; if all the direction and purpose of life is found in this world, and if all that matters is improvement and ultimately even perfection of this world, then unity, too, must be achieved in terms of this world. Hence, integration—a plan for another step in the unifying process of the diverse parts of society. Integration is not an end in itself, but a supposed step toward the end of achieving heaven on earth. Integrationists, therefore, like all utopians everywhere in all times are wildly determined to remove from their path all who would obstruct their progress toward ultimate unity and heaven on earth…

The Christian false front on worldliness has no effect on the merchandise inside. Inside is the same old stock in trade of political ruthlessness as it develops when religionists want to take the kingdom of heaven by violence. Heaven on earth must present perfection and perfection requires unity, just as God is a Unity. Unity means universal submission to a single sovereignty, and unity in and of the world means universal submission to a single world government. In such a system the disunity of two distinct human races living side by side but in totally distinct cultural communities is intolerable. It is as intolerable as the divisions among the churches over which the devotees of ecumenicity wail so endlessly and plaintively…

It remains to consider what is actually described by "integration." What is the condition or conditions that have been fulfilled when we can take a deep breath and say we are now integrated? Is it sufficient that black children sit next to white children in school? Clearly not. The aims of the "integration" movement are plainly listed as steps without end. There is to be a removal of all recognition of any difference between Negro and Caucasian…

Unity, socialism, and the world, then, are the real issues involved in what is called "integration."

A friend told me about a book by Anne-Marie Slaughter called The Idea That is America: Keeping Faith With Our Values in a Dangerous World. If America is an idea then why aren’t families merely ideas? Perhaps your wife is a dream and your children little propositions. And how does a person have faith in a subjective value?

It’s worth noting here that the Declaration of Independence was against the king, not parliament, which is not mentioned in it and which had no authority over the states. People tend to consider the king or president to be synonymous with the country, but that wasn’t the case then or now.

Ehud posted some very interesting quotes from Nehemiah. Isn’t 2:10 exactly what we see again and again in the news these days? "When Sanballat the Horonite and Tobiah the Ammonite heard of it, they were deeply disturbed that a man had come to seek the well-being of the children of Israel." The response in verse 20 is a beautiful and inspiring slogan for our people: "The God of heaven Himself will prosper us; therefore we His servants will arise and build, but you have no heritage or right or memorial in Jerusalem." And in chapter 13, we see the "racism" that holds a people together: "Then those of Israelite lineage separated themselves from all foreigners; and they stood and confessed their sins and the iniquities of their fathers… So it was, when they had heard the Law, that they separated all the mixed multitude from Israel." The first step is desiring the well-being of your people, whether they are faithful or not. The second step is an exclusive claim of heritage. The third is separation from foreigners. The fourth is confession of sin and reliance upon God. As Michael Hoffman once said, those who reject Christ should not expect to retain any territory anywhere.

Juneteenth celebrations have nothing - I repeat, NOTHING - to do with black people. And this was certainly not a hate crime. It was merely a "spontaneous act" by "a few fools that got out of hand." Perhaps the Austin cops and the Knoxville cops could get together and discuss creative new ways to deceive the public.

The moderator of the previous Democrat presidential debate, Tavis Smiley, says blacks are too "emotional" to obey rules of decorum. We believe it, and it has far-reaching implications for the stability of any society with a large black population. Since everyone thinks economic development is all that matters anymore, let’s talk about that. Economic development goes far beyond intellect or aptitude. Trust and cooperation in a climate of peace are required for companies to invest in research and development to bring new technologies to market at low cost. There are many examples of races and kindreds who are smart and talented and could achieve great things but who are unable to work together. Others have no concept of delayed gratification. Add low IQ into the mix and you have a recipe for being forever dependent on the advanced races of the world. As one man put it, the choice we face in our country today is between White Supremacy and White Worthlessness.

On NPR Saturday morning, I heard someone tell the story of adopting his Chinese "daughter." He and his wife were confused when the child was handed to them because she wasn’t the same one advertised to them. Not that it mattered. "Race doesn’t matter," he said. "It is how small minds keep score. The only thing that matters about blood is that it’s warm." Unfortunately, his "daughter" will disagree when she grows up. At best, her identity crisis will be minimized.

Funny how this Asian father is proud of his Asian heritage and is proud of the pride that his Asian kids take in their Asian heritage, and is proud that his Asian kids are excelling White kids. Prior to 1999, there were no homeschooled winners of the National Geographic Bee. Since that time, 80% of the five White winners have been homeschooled. That’s old news, but here’s the surprising part: Since 1999, three of the four Asian or hybrid winners have been public-schooled. What does this mean? Does it mean that the trillions of dollars being spent on education are giving children the resources they need, but only Asians are taking advantage of it because they are still insulated from popular negroid culture?

We saw this performed recently at a festival celebrating cultural diversity. As we all know, such festivals invariably highlight Western culture but include colored sideshow acts just to be fair, as in most "world" history courses. This event was no exception. The biggest draw was Irish dancing, which was fantastic. To watch the Irish dance is to lose oneself in a dream. One beautiful red-haired lass could dance and play her fiddle at the same time - fast - and it’s hard to argue for cultural equality when one is witness to such otherwordly talent. I hesitate to even describe the singing. How does one describe the angelic? The sound touches something primal in a man or woman of the West.

And then there were the Peruvian Indians. Their dance included a lot of grunting and rolling around on the ground, all the while clanging together two halves of a scissors, regardless of how they had contorted their bodies. The performance caused me to glare at my wife several times in a perplexed way, and she returned a glance that I know means: "Don’t make me laugh out loud in the middle of this thing."

I still don’t understand the significance of the scissors, but an interpreter explained that rolling around on the ground and grunting is meant to symbolize animal behavior. No big surprise there. We had already seen human behavior over at the Irish arena. We were also told that the motivation for propagating the Indian folk customs is a rejection of the imposition of Spanish conquistadors. Well, okay, says I! Turns out it was just racism after all, not mental illness.

Then things got ugly and the mestizos showed the Irish micks what performance art is all about.

Sorry to subject y’all to those images, but not really. All I’m trying to say is that these gentlemen would make good American citizens, or sons-in-law, or both.

There were also some Africans at the festival beating on anything they could turn into a drum, but that wasn’t so bad. Percussion has a charm of its own, though it makes for a meager musical feast. And I think they paid the blacks extra to not dance, for which we were all very grateful.
