"The Church of England is ’institutionally racist,’ a damning internal report has concluded. That’s because, as the Bible says, everything is to be done decently and in order. A friend told me about a book by Martin Thornton called English Spirituality. The distinctive flavor of English Spirituality is such that "there must be some racial instinct which naturally inclines to some saints and teachers and which intuitively rejects others" (p. 56). Ten parishioners, communicating (or reciting the Office) in ten different places at ten different times, are expressing their deeper unity in Christ just as truly as if they were all together" (p. 273).
